June 13th, 2008 RonnieNijmeh Posted in Self Help | No Comments »

What are affirmations and what can they do for you? This is a common question and one that is usually asked by someone that has heard of positive affirmations and wondering what they are all about.

Affirmations truly do have the power to change your life, as long as you want to change your life and believe in the affirmations that you choose or create. If you have any negative thoughts or deal with negativity or stress during your day, positive affirmations can help you.

So, What are Affirmations?

Good question! You may have heard of positive affirmations in the past, but here’s the scoop: affirmations are simply positive statements for you to use in your life when you need to replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts and actions.

It may sound really odd to you when you are first introduced to the concept, but it works. For instance, when you are really stress you may find that positive affirmations can help you deal with the stress. An affirmations such as, “I can deal with anything that comes my way,” is one that may help you.

How does this work?

When you are feeling stressed you can repeat this several times and it replaces the negative thoughts such as, “I don’t think I can do this” with positive ones like: “I can accomplish anything I set my mind to.” The more you say, or reaffirm, this statement the more power it will have because there will simply not be any room left for the negativity.

Another question people ask is: why should I use affirmations? You should use them because they can change your life for the better. Life is too short to get caught up in negativity and self doubt. With free affirmations you can deal with all of the stressors and negativity in your life in a much more positive manner. Instead of always thinking that you can’t do something or that you aren’t good enough, you’ll replace these thoughts with the idea that you can do anything. If you repeat this to yourself often enough, it will become your truth.

When you use affirmations you will become a more positive person, you simply can’t help it! When you are more positive you will think better and feel better and the people around you will notice it. You’ll find that you are more enjoyable to be around and that you generally have more fun, too. It has to do with the law of attraction, if you are positive and you put positive energy out there positive energy will be returned to you. With free positive affirmations you can make the most out of every single moment of your life.

Now that you don’t have to ask, “what are affirmations,” you can put them to use for you. Give it a shot, you may find that they work really well for you. If they do, why not share free positive affirmations with your friends? Let them in on your secret of leading a positive life. You’ll feel good about yourself, so why not share the positive feelings?

Don’t Let Life Pass You By

June 13th, 2008 JonCaldwell Posted in Society | No Comments »

Thanks to the rise in aging people in Europe, that corner of the world sees growth in the life insurance industry. The study, form the Comite Europeen des Assurances (CEA) saw the growth trend this year as opposed to last year when the market was greatly affected by the sub-prime market woes in the US. The rise is also attributed to demography meaning more people get offers from more providers allowing better choices for the public. Health and Life insurance many Americans now have to forego due to rising food and fuel prices as opposed to Europe which has mostly stable economies allowing stable growth throughout the industry.

Providers are worried at the current trend that the area of commercial and personal insurance is concerned for they are forecast to flat out this year. The main issue is responsive pricing which would allow more people to get insurance as the prices fluctuate. There is no definite way of saying when the problems that are plaguing the financial sector would at least level off but if the current trend continues, the forecast is not good. The decline in the prices of commercial policies also affects the ability of health insurers to come up with innovative prices that are within reach of the ordinary office worker. Many in America are now left without ample insurance due to problems within the troubled economy. As people get displaced either by the massive lay offs that are expected to come as the troubles worsen, the need for insurance increases and many will surely face uncertainty when the industry is forced again to raise prices.

The insurance industry holds its breath as they await first quarter earnings reports. Forecasts for the year are not at all good but many still manage to hold their own weight with more attentive focus on adapting to current financial industry trends. The lower prices have enticed just enough customers to get health insurance along with the introduction of many personalized packages that are made available for the different needs that exist in the various levels of policy holders. The suspense continues as they await financial reports from the industry leaders who are key in the overall health of the industry. Many have been experiencing a slump in sales but have been able to maintain stability and keep existing policies even getting a few new ones to shore up the statistics.

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority has agreed to move the enactment into law new proposals for changes to the insurance industry. The move would have accredited firms conduct principal reviews for the suitability of such deferred VA applications within only a few days before it is submitted to the insurance company. The amount of time they have specified has been contested by several providers may not be enough to allow them proper review and evaluation. Key representatives of the industry also asked for a different approach to the enforcement of the said rule instead of having a fixed date giving clue to a gradual implementation. The rule has been approved by the US Securities and Exchange Commission last September and has already undergone several revisions to further refine the said rule. The FINRA has also said that they would allow firms time to comply with the rule and they would be handling them in a case to case basis.

What is Good and Bad Karma?

June 13th, 2008 KeithWard Posted in Society | No Comments »

Karma has long been an idea tossed about in Western popular culture but few people outside of Eastern religions truly understand its significance. To understand the difference between good and bad karma, you must first understand what karma is.

Karma Defined

The easiest way to explain karma in simple terms is that it’s like a cosmic cause and effect cycle. Every action you take leads to a specific effect. For example, if you do a good deed for someone today, there’s a good chance that someone will do a good deed for you in the near future.

While karma may be a new idea to many of us, the concept of cause and effect is not. We all know that if we drive too fast on a wet road then apply our brakes quickly; the effect is likely to be skidding and possibly an accident. We all know that when rain falls it causes the grass to grow.

However, karma has a significant impact on our lives.

The Twofold Impact of Karma

Karma works in our lives in two ways:

*Guiding us towards our purpose in our present life - Each time we are reborn; we come with a purpose, usually to rectify something from our past life. Karma manifests itself as certain themes in our lives, perhaps problems with relationships and by paying attention to these themes and taking steps to change them in our lives we can achieve our karmic goal.

*Repaying us for our actions - In physics, we are taught that each action has an equal and opposite reaction. Karma teaches us this as well. What you do today will have repercussions in your life. That is inevitability.

By understanding these two ways in which our lives are constantly being affected by karma, we can be prepared to recognise the difference between good and bad karma.

Good & Bad Karma

Often we hear “that person has all the luck” but what should really be said is “that person has good karma.” What most of us consider luck is simply the work of karma repaying us for our actions. Sometimes those actions are from our current lives; sometimes from our past experiences. We may not always be able to trace the cause of our luck - good or bad - but we must know that it exists and guides karma’s hand.

Good karma brings us fortunate turns in our lives. We may meet a friend, find happiness, be blessed with financial security, come across a job opportunity, etc. Bad karma, on the other hand, plagues us with misfortune.

However, do not assume that every time something bad happens to you it is because of bad karma or because you have acted badly during one of your lives. In some cases, what we perceive to be an unfortunate turn of events now can lead to wonderful effects. For example, if you lose your job, it may not be a punishment but a way of opening a path to a brighter job opportunity in the near future.

Because we cannot determine the effect our actions will have, we can only strive to do what we think is the right thing and follow the path we believe we are destined to travel.

Spirit Guides: Do You Have One?

June 13th, 2008 KeithWard Posted in Society | No Comments »

Spirit guides are disembodied entities who move between the spirit and the material world in order to provide guidance or counselling to a living person, usually someone who possesses the ability to communicate in some way with the spirit world already. However, some believe that each of us has a spirit guide and only those who have this ability to communicate with spirits can recognise their presence.

Generally, spirit guides are special in other ways. Most believe these guides are the souls of people who have been reincarnated sufficiently to be released from the cycle. Because of their experiences and knowledge gained from these reincarnations, they are able to share with the living a greater wisdom.

How Do You Know if You Have a Spirit Guide?

Obviously, if you have ever been able to communicate with a spirit who claims to be your guide then this is powerful evidence that you have one. Communication can come in a number of forms. Some people claim to have seen their spirit guides manifested in the flesh.

Other methods of communication include astral projection. In this method, you actually leave your body and are able to travel in a different plain of reality. While in this state, you can make contact with your spirit guide. Visualisation and meditation can sometimes also open the doors of communication between the two worlds.

In many cases, you may never have a direct encounter with your spirit guide. However, that doesn’t mean you do not have a guide. Many people simply sense the presence of these guides in their lives.

How Will Spirit Guides Counsel Me?

If you are able to communicate at will with your spirit guide through meditation or astral projection, for example, then you can seek them out when you have questions.

Another common way of communication is through dreams. Have you ever faced a difficult situation or a dilemma only to wake up the next day feeling confident that you have found a solution? If you have then that may have been your spirit guide communicating with you through your dreams.

Sometimes you will simply sense the urging from your spirit guide to take one action over another. For example, if you are trying to make an important decision, you may feel yourself leaning towards one side or another automatically without giving it any thought. That initial reaction could be traced back to guidance from your spiritual companion.

Are Spirit Guides Always Human?

Native Americans for centuries have believed in animal spirit guides. In fact, this belief is an intricate part of shamanistic teachings. For them, the animal spirits guides are sources of wisdom. For example, the crow is viewed as an intermediary between the world of the living and of the dead because they believe it carries the souls to the other world. They possess wisdom about ancestors and about living without fear of the unknown.

While these beliefs are very strong among many people today, most individuals who have described their spirit guides see them in human form.

How to Keep Doubt From Destroying Your Dreams

June 12th, 2008 BonnieMcFarland Posted in Self Help | No Comments »

“I can’t make any money doing this.”

“This is too good to be true.”

“Maybe I just don’t have what it takes to do this.”

“I’m never going to figure this out.”

“I guess I’m not going to find something I’m passionate about.”

“I’m not sure any more that I really want to do this.”

I’ve heard these doubts and many others from my clients as they follow their dreams, desires, and passions. Doubt seems to be a normal part of the busy human mind, one of Monkey Mind’s favorite flavors.

Do you have thoughts that lead you to mistrust yourself, your vision, or your path?

Doubt can squeeze its tendrils around your mind, feed on itself, and, just like a wild vine, take over.

Doubt makes you uncertain, unsure, and confused. The doubting mind can’t even be certain of its doubts. Thoughts whirl around in your head, often the same ones over and over. It’s easy to become shaky and fearful, to begin to question and distrust everything, to get stalled, and to delay taking action.

Doubting, doubting, doubting also saps your energy. Eventually you may stop moving forward or give up completely. There goes your dream!

It doesn’t have to be this way. You don’t have to let doubt run - or ruin!- your life. Try doubting your doubt.

TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE?

One of my clients had been searching for her passion for a long, long time without success. She came to me to see if I could help her discover her passion. In our first few hours together, we identified a number of things that lit her up and that she was passionate about. Good news!

Within two weeks of that initial clarity, she came across an opportunity that would allow her to work from home, travel a little, and do something that she thought was so much fun she couldn’t possibly get paid for doing it.

All of this lit her up so much she was on fire when she told me about it. In the midst of her excitement, though, she kept saying, “This is just too good to be true.” That thought (which she had been having repetitively) was getting in the way of fully savoring and pursuing this opportunity.

Was it too good to be true? Maybe, maybe not. She didn’t have enough information to know. Asking “Is this too good to be true?” over and over kept her busy whirling around in circles and it wasn’t producing any useful answers.

So how could she get some useful answers? First, she needed to identify some intelligent questions.

I asked her what “due diligence” would help her discern if this was a viable opportunity. She quickly came up with “ask the organization for names of people who have made money doing this” and “check the Better Business Bureau.” Just identifying these questions halted her whirling mind and gave her more clarity and focus. She got off the phone energized to get these and other intelligent questions answered.

As she does this, her increased knowledge will decrease her qualms and ease her fears of the unknown. She can then choose to move forward with this opportunity or to find another path.

IN YOUR LIFE

When your mind is filled with doubts, going back and forth in your head is more likely to increase your uncertainty and confusion than to help you. To reduce your doubt and fear of the unknown, here’s a way to begin doubting your doubt.

* What are you doubting? What are you saying to yourself that is creating your uncertainty? Write this down.

* Identify five to ten intelligent questions related to whatever it is that you have qualms about. Write them down.

* Get answers to those questions.

* Allow the information you gather to decrease your misgivings and fear and to guide your next choices and actions.

By the way, if you can’t come up with intelligent questions that is a big clue it’s just your Monkey Mind talking. In which case, thank it for sharing and turn your attention to your dream, your desire, your vision, your next step.

Doubt your doubts, not your dreams. As Franklin Delano Roosevelt said, “The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today.”

Hypnosis For Jealousy: Taming the Green Beast

June 12th, 2008 TerryDoherty Posted in Society | No Comments »

Human emotions are something that links every human together under one bubble of life. These emotions will range from love to fear, sadness to jealousy. When human emotions begin to take control of our lives, the time comes to take back that control. Jealousy, one of the most common emotions, can spring up without any precursor or visual reasoning. You may be jealous of your partner, brother, sister or friend and have no real understanding of why. Hypnotherapy can help bring the real reasons for this jealousy to the forefront of your mind and cure the green beasts hold on your psyche.

The imagination is at the heart of jealousy in most cases. The mind can be one of the strongest factors in our emotions. When the imagination takes reality and twists actions, thoughts and sayings into a world against you, jealousy often springs forth. When this imagination is paired with a self esteem issue or inner insecurity, the seed grows and becomes more and more controlling, until the jealous party can no longer control the feelings from within. Actions change, feelings change and life will be changed unless help is achieved.

Why Hypnotherapy Works

Due to the fact that jealousy is based in the mind as an insecurity, hypnotherapy can dig deep to find the core causative factors for the change in feeling. Along with the most core of issues, the surrounding physical and emotional short comings will also be considered as part of the reasoning behind the feelings being exposed. Once the hypnotherapist is able to centre on the causative feelings, those feelings can be changed and bettered through the act of positive reinforcement, positive thought exercises and auto suggestion.

Help For a Troubled Relationship

When jealousy rears its ugly head, the relationship you are a part of will often begin to waver. There is nothing quite as negative on a relationship as one partner feeling as though they can not trust the other partner in the relationship. But, with the help of hypnotherapy, these feelings can change more quickly than you could ever imagine. Within no time at all, the auto-suggestion and positive thinking exercises will eliminate your minds need to second guess every action and create subconscious meanings for everything your partner does on a daily basis. Being late from work, will not mean he or she is cheating. A quick at bed time will not signal the end of the relationship any longer. Your thought process will be moved from the imaginative and creative to the honest and earnest thanks to a totally natural and totally safe session of hypnotherapy.

Give Back to Yourself

Do not allow yourself another day of worrying, pacing and self mutilating. Life is worth so much more than the frustrations caused by jealousy. When it comes to making life better as two people in a relationship, the key is to find the heart of the problem, whether it be self esteem issues or past experiences and solve those problems from within the mind. Once you take that first step to recovery, you will notice the changes, your partner will notice the changes and you may just save your relationship and your self esteem.

Many people find that they are reluctant to trust hypnotherapy with their innermost problems. Hypnotherapy can make a world of difference in a very short period of time. Jealousy manifests itself based upon feelings. There are no physical problems, no medications that can cure the psyche with the same power as the suggestion techniques used with hypnotherapy. All it takes is a little time and a hypnotherapist who understands the importance of a strong relationship.

Terry works all over the UK working extensively with individual and business clients helping them stop smoking, manage weight, manage stress, become more confident and helping to create generative change. He uses the latest techniques of hypnosis and NLP. Contact him at http://www.mind-works.co.uk

Natural Anxiety Remedy For Depression

June 12th, 2008 MikeSchlacter Posted in Self Help | No Comments »

If you’ve ever found yourself paranoid while going down a street or jumping at the slightest sound inside a store you may have anxiety. Anxiety is when someone becomes overly afraid of something or jumpy. This is an anxious feeling that is developed suddenly, it can stem from something as early on as childhood or something that has currently happened. There is a way to get help for your anxiety through doctors, therapy and even natural anxiety remedies.

Massage- Many may not believe it but something as simple as a body massage can make all the tension leave your body and this works for anxiety as well. A Swedish massage is generally the most common. Some may not know it by the name but this is the smooth strokes up and down the body. Oil may be used but only if the patient wants it, otherwise the body is caressed in smooth circular movements. Slowly the body will begin to relax and in rare cases a person may cry when the stress leaves their body. Other massages one might enjoy are Thai, Shiatsu, back, hot stone or even a deep tissue.

Passionflower- If you are really into experimenting you can try using the passionflower. This is an herb/flower that dates back to the Aztec people. This beautiful purple flower has been used in insomnia patients, depression, anxiety and many other illnesses. Do not mix this up with its cousin the bluepassion flower.

Yoga- Or another form of mind relaxing can definitely work if you are in an area where you can sit and relax. Place your mind somewhere else that pleases you, this can be a meadow, creak or a place you feel calm. Sometimes it is not wise to try to do this, such as inside a car. If you feel the need to relax your mind you may just want to play some soft music or pull the vehicle over in order to do it.

Breathing- By slowing down and concentrating on your breathing you can actually let the stress out. Try closing your eyes and counting to ten, believe it or not it does work. Another thing is you take a deep breath, hold it and release. This allows you to suck in the good area and exhale the bad, you’ll also feel refreshed.

Aromatherapy- Have you ever smelled something that brought you back to a time that you loved? Smelled something that made a smile grow across your face? These are pleasing scents and should be around you as much as possible. Stock up on some candles and matches and light up your home every night and just sit in front and enjoy the aroma as it envelopes you, taking all the fears away.

Tea- Yes, while caffeine can help trigger an anxiety attack chamomile tea can help relieve it. There are a ton of herbal teas out there ready to help you, even lavender can help you sleep, but there are actually teas you should avoid such as black tea. No one likes to suffer from anxiety, hopefully these natural anxiety remedies will help you to overcome it.

Wouldn’t it be great to finally cure your anxiety once and for all? It’s a reality. Read more about a simple, natural anxiety remedy over at Linden Method.
